With an estimated population of just over 300,000 inhabitants, Mayotte witnessed the untamed force of Cyclone Chido which directly struck the territory, causing severe destruction. The expulsion of more than 11 souls from life’s dance and hundreds more injured is a melancholic reminder of the horrifying effects of such environmental catastrophes. Still under rescue, it’s feared that the death toll will increase.
